This is a preview of our second set of videos on mathematics and mathematicians. It is interesting to me how few of my colleagues know of these first 14 African Americans to earn a doctorate in mathematics. We are going to profile David Blackwell and Ernest Wilkins in more detail. Then we will look at the partnership between Booker T. Washington and Julius Rosenwald and how that partnership elevated the public schools for black children in the rural South, and eventually provided fellowships for some of the people in our list.
