I came to the realization early on that before venturing into designing products for Land Cruisers that I would be developing for a niche market. And if its for the 80 series then its a niche of a niche. If its for interior products then its a niche of a niche of a niche. Then what if I'm battling for market share due to a competitor? Well this means there are certain products that will have a short shelf life. Meaning, once they are sold out, they may never be made again. This could be because it wasn't a popular item, or maybe I was just making it for myself and a few friends or maybe I want to keep it more exclusive feeling. Who knows? But I figured if it winds up there will be relatively low production numbers then why not serialize? Now serials are great for tracking productions and for product support and recall or just plain revision control. All these are good. But sometimes its just cool to have number 001 of something. Or 007 of another. There is pride in your number. Your place in line. When and where were you. Of course I'm not assuming anything on this site will generate that type of nostalgia but, why not?
