Winning Works Blog Happy New Year and a look back at 2013

14 Jan 2014 11:11A HAPPY NEW YEAR FOR 2014 AND A LOOK BACK AT 2013A Happy New Year to all our friends and customers and thank you for your support in 2013.Last year was a very busy year for Winning Works so I thought it would be nice to share some of the highlights with you:New products introduced in 2013Our engraved slate garden signs continued to be very popular and we had great fun developing our new ranges of engraved wooden signs and gifts. Our solid oak rugby inspired serving platter proved very popular, as did our engraved wooden dog lead holders. Out and aboutAs well as launching our new website in 2013, we took Winning Works on the road and met some lovely people at local fairs, markets and agricultural shows. It's great to meet customers face- to-face.I also enjoy participating in a little retail therapy myself at the shows we visit. I met some very talented designers and makers who work really hard to design and create their own original unique products rather than plagiarising other people's creative ideas or passing bought-in products as their own work. Very refreshing! Some of our favourite fayres were The Great Peak District Fayre in Buxton, The Christmas Market at The Roundhouse in Derby and Country Living Christmas Fayre in Harrogate. In the (virtual) PressLast year we tentatively started using social media and our engraved slate and wood signs and gifts are now on twitter and facebook. Our engraved dog lead holder was featured in a charitable auction organised by iheartwhippets on facebook, which raised £4,562 in total for dog charities. Our engraved slate garden sign in French was featured in Living France magazine, and our signs and gifts were featured in several blogs including one by Amanda Volley after her visit the amazing Christmas Market at The Roundhouse in Derby.Thank you Amanda.I was also delighted when one of our signs was featured in's advent blog, with the lovely Jenny Hyde Looking forward to the rest of 2014After a much-needed rest following the Christmas rush, we are settling into the new year, dreaming up some new products (so much fun. My Dad calls it playing!). We are looking forward to meeting customers old and new at fayres and events in the coming months and will be posting dates on our Events page as they are confirmed.Cathy Rawsthorne
