Hello everyone,You likely surmised by now that Web of Change will not be happening in Texas (or anywhere else) in mid-November.Given the uncertainty surrounding in person events, travel and, well, most everything else, we chose not to reschedule the live event for a later date in 2021. It may be possible to revisit the possibility of a live event in the first quarter of 2021.Web of Change was last held in October 2017. There are currently no plans to hold a future live event. This puts Web of Change at a crossroads. Should we continue? What would that look like? Where does the community go from here? We’re asking the Web of Change community for ideas and support. One of the values of the community (and benefits of our live events) has been exploration and learning. Every event is different but they were spaces to go deep in conversation with people doing interesting, innovative and even a bit radical work.Perhaps this is an easier value to achieve online. New people can join. Barriers are reduced with no travel and little expense, aside from time. Here are some options that the board has kicked around. What do you think? What other ideas do you have?Host community conversations - scheduled times when members of the board or community can lead simple conversations about work you’re doing, an idea you haveA series of presentations, webinars, skillshares, demos and/or (insert your idea here}.Produce a virtual event. This could be all or parts of one or more days. Topics TBD.Web of Change, like most any organization, is the sum of the people who participate. Web of Change needs your ideas and maybe a bit of time to continue on.This announcement is a request for ideas. Share them here. We figure that after the US election may be a better time for conversation and planning - but please give this a think and offer up your thoughts. With gratitude,– the Web of Change Board
