We are delighted to announce that VIETRI is featured in the Bloomingdale's Gallery in New York City from mid-July to mid-August. Warren Maass, a member of our Product Development team, shares with us the inspiration behind crafting ideas for the gallery as well as the physical process for bringing it to fruition. Collectively, with the work of many hands, we have created a space for the public to truly transcend from reality into a beautiful, authentically Italian environment. The inspiration for the VIETRI Gallery on the sixth floor of the Bloomingdale's store in New York City stems from the "Farm to Table" concept. In Italy, "Farm to Table" is not just a movement, but it is and always has been a way of life for the Italians. We began this project by searching for images that best conveyed the look and feel of an Italian farm house. We wanted to put a contemporary spin on the idea that would appeal to the Bloomingdale's urban customer. The first thing that was decided upon was the need for an iconic Italian pergola. In order to create a pergola that felt authentic, we searched for beams that revealed age and distress. Natural olive branches were used to cover the pergola and add a realistic touch to the display. Next, we discussed the look of the table itself. It isn't uncommon to see a saw horse table in nurseries throughout Italy. In an attempt to mimic the tables we found during our trips to Italy, we fashioned our own table that began with a fabricated metal base with iron saw horses. The tabletop was derived from aged rough sawn planks we found at a saw mill. We created a ground for the space from a realistic moss-like sheeting that we chose to put under the pergola and table. The simplicity of Lastra is a favorite among Bloomingdale's, so we chose that collection to go on the table. Aqua Whipstitch Linens provided the foundation and a pop of color for the Lastra White and Gray place settings, accompanied by Fuoco Flatware and Optical Drinkware, a perfect compliment to the casual, sophisticated tablescape. The look was completed by a nuance of fresh herbs in the Lastra Tavern Pitchers. Our Marketing Team compiled an array of images capturing vines on an Italian stucco wall inset with black and white photos of VIETRI artisans at work on their craft to cover the columns. Cypress trees flank the columns that border the gallery. The Italian look continues throughout the gallery with rough sawn wood bases and olive branches behind the shelving that are beautifully merchandised with our core collections: Lastra, Incanto, Forma, and Bellezza. Romantic images of Italy were chosen for the walls to further tell the story of VIETRI and our mission. The product and olive leaves can be seen by customers approaching the 6th floor on the escalator, inviting them to stop in and shop the gallery. At the far end of the gallery, our theme is continued with a Farm to Table wedding-inspired Incanto table. The back lit white plexi glass table was a given, so we chose to overlay the table with an open weave jute runner, allowing the light to shine through. The table is set with an elegant combination of Incanto, Natural Whipstitch Linens, Optical Gold Drinkware, and Aladdin Gold Fleck Flatware. A simple white wedding cake adorned with bands of natural jute and white ribbon sits atop an Incanto cake stand, which sits nestled between two small cypresses. The Farm to Table wedding experience comes full circle as olive leaves and artichokes sit layered on the jute. The VIETRI Gallery in Bloomingdale's was a great opportunity to tell the VIETRI story. The gallery's success has been the result of a collaborative effort between VIETRI's Visual, Marketing, and Sales teams, as well as the Visual Merchandising and Sales Teams of Bloomingdale's. The captivating and quintessentially Italian result reflects what can be accomplished when people are truly inspired. We invite you to experience the magic of Italy in our VIETRI Gallery.
