A Note from Linda Dear Friends,"Every mind predicts its own future and casts its own shadow before it," says Ervin Seale, the author of "Ten Words that Will Change Your Life," one of the sources we have been drawing from as we study the inner meaning of the Ten Commandments. When the first five commandments ("God's Laws") are established in our consciousness, the remaining five become "The Prophets" -they foretell what actions will result. This Sunday we complete our study of the ten commandment with an exploration of these "Prophets," how when coupled with our thoughts and feelings they free us to fully express who we came here to be and provide us with the means to manifest our dreams. What is your next dream? That's a good question, isn't it, especially for people who have been blessed to have already accomplished a lot? Who have you come here to be-now? What identity within you is being called forth by these ancient teachings? Whatever that may be, these "Laws" and "Prophets" are the most reliable means of realizing it.I can't wait to explore more of this ancient wisdom with you this Sunday as! With love and gratitude,Linda Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord! We are planning a church sing-along featuring all of your favorite hymns and Sunday songs. The favorite hymns that have been submitted so far are listed below. If yours failed to get on the list, don't despair! They just got lost in the shuffle. Write down your requests this Sunday at the events table or email us. There are lots of old favorites, don't hesitate to add some of the newer ones! unitygeorgetown@gmail.com Candidates for the Sing-Along:* I Believe* Climb Every Mountain* Bless Be the Tie that Binds* For the Beauty of the Earth* Open My Eyes that I May See* This is My Father's World* Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee* Amazing Grace* The Rose * Over the Rainbow* Here I am, Lord We reviewed more of the ten Commandments with Linda last Sunday. She started out telling us about John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church and his 4 methods:1. Take scripture as the foundation of how we come to know God2. Scripture is full of eternal truths, but we need to be mindful of the traditions of the time3. We can apply reason-we do have a brain!4. We must go inward to see what we feel is true in our head and our hearts. Thought and feeling need to work together.Sunday was Father's Day, and what better day to look at the commandment to Honor thy father and thy mother. Whatever experience you had with your father, honor that experience, and ask yourself what identity is being shaped by that experience? The Christ consciousness may be one-the kingdom within. The father symbolizes thought, and the mother feeling. We need to have balance between these two. God created man and woman in His image.Thoughts create your life, but not by themselves. Anyone who has ever tried to meditate knows how many thoughts run through it (what the Buddhists call "monkey mind"). But there must be feelings associated with the thoughts to move them to action. Feelings are rocket boosters for thoughts! Think how dangerous anger and resentment can be.Thoughts and feelings must also be in the right environment to come to fruition; they must be nurtured. Don't "adulterate" (meaning dilute the quality) of your actions with negative thoughts! To commit is to "send forth"-send TRUTH! Then thou shalt not kill those ideas. When a mind becomes fearful, parts of your mind can disagree and it's like a war that can kill an idea within your consciousness. The commandments can bring forth who we really are! They are like an instruction manual to create the life we want.Stay tuned for the next session next Sunday!! Love and Blessings, Your UOG Board News from the Board Thank you to all who have been praying and searching, visualizing and assisting with finding our new spiritual home! We have toured a couple of places, and are continuing until we have a definite place. In the next couple of weeks,we will post a listing of all the places we have considered so far (at least 20 of them!). Thank you all for keeping your eyes open! We are still looking at updating and changing up our newsletter and website in the coming weeks. It is a critical connection to the community that needs to lead people to us! One new idea from the brainstorming meeting being implemented immediately is an outreach project Dona Holloway nicknamed "Bucket of Hope." We will collect items needed by a specific charitable organization for 3 months, different each month based on their needs. Then we choose another charity. Look for the colorful bucket in the foyer on Sunday! More info on this month's project under events. We are here for you, to represent you and to offer you opportunities to be spiritually fulfilled. Suggestions are always welcome in the box in the back of the chapel on Sundays or contact one of the board members. Thank you for your support! "Where there is no vision, the people perish."
