It is so easy to forget the real reason for this season. Lost is shopping malls, rounds of parties, responsibilities,over-spending and overeating, getting the lights up, Christmas cards, etc., it is easy to say as Ebenezer Scrooge, "Bah humbug!" However, don't forget to take a second and recenter of that Divine Spark that is inside of us all. You don't have to buy it or get it as a gift. It already has been given to you. It was yours before you were even born. Take a moment for a deep breath, a quick prayer, and remembering that you are one with the one. There is no spot-- or season-- where God is not! After you take that deep breath, say a quick affirmation, and recenter, I would make several suggestions you might want to try. --"NO" is a complete sentence! You do not have to go to every party and event you have been invited to. You are a human being and not a human doing! --Even if you go to an event or party, you do not have to be the last one to leave. There are wonderful-- and respectful-- ways to make an exit. --Giving is a key part of this season. Maybe it is not overspending or overeating that will bring you real joy. Maybe it will come from giving of your time, talents, and treasure to something that you know is tied to that Divine Spark within you. --Expect the unexpected!
