This past weekend our family went out to pick apples...Galas are in!!! We then went out and purchased Ironweed. The deep purple flag of Ironweed in bloom has long been a signal of fall for me. The colors of the Zinnias become deeper and the blossoms engorged. Red plumes of Cardinal Flower bless the meadows and wetlands..and then comes the Ironweed. It is just a beautiful time of year.
