Time4 Blog Competition - How should we handle them?

I was riding home from our Gold Hill Winery Kickoff Partner Meeting and heard a growl form my belly (it's a frequent occurrence). At that moment I spotted a Subway sign - the motorcycle seemed to go on auto pilot heading straight for it. As I pulled into the parking spot right in front of the Subway I noticed a pork sandwich shop (2 doors down in a strip of only 4 stores). It's name... Squeelers!!! I am sure you Foothill people have been there. OK, so I pull up, see this, and my first thought was "Someone really screwed up on their lease". Then I backed my bike up and went for the "unique" over my original choice of Subway. So I am talking to the owner about his "situation" with the competition and he explains that since they opened, his business has boomed - then I thought for a second about what I did... I then had a pulled pork sub.. yum... The owner came out and told me his life history (he is from Cleveland - like we were neighbors - after all we both were raised east of the Mississippi). Then I watched another car pull in (remember this is Shingle Springs), the patron walked half way to Subway, saw Squeelers and changed direction. The moral(s):- If you can 'take off' your competition's advertising - do it.- Competition is always good; it proves market existence.- A friendly greeting and a GREAT pulled pork sub - always better than Subway.Bon AppetitBob
