On Saturday, October 25th, participants of a youth program at SCAN New York in the South Bronx held a fundraiser tournament to raise money for our cause. The youth were inspired when they heard about the work that The Uplifting Project does, and decided to hold the fundraiser as part of a service learning requirement for their program. Many of the participants told us that while they face their own set of challenges, learning about the students we serve in Tanzania made them more grateful for their education and other opportunities that exist around them.The event had a great turnout as the youth and staff mobilized their friends and communities to come out to learn more about The Uplifting Project and support two great organizations! Activities included the 3-on-3 tournament, music and entertainment, free face painting for local kids, and ended with the day's most exciting event... the Slam Dunk Competition. The winner wowed the crowd and walked away with his own new #getuplifted shirt! The event raised hundreds of dollars that will support construction at Kikatiti Primary School. Thank you SCAN!
