Almost a year on from The Logic Group's acquisition by Barclaycard, the two companies took the opportunity to host an event for our existing customers that would provide some insight into why we've joined forces, our experiences thus far and our strategy for the coming year. It also presented the opportunity for some fantastic speakers. The setting for the day was fittingly at NY:LON bar, a concept bar launched by Delta Airlines and Virgin Atlantic at The 02, celebrating their shared history of innovation. Given the partnership of Barclaycard and The Logic Group, and our shared desire to drive innovation in field of payment technology, there could not have been a more suitable venue to hold the evening. It was an opportunity for Barclaycard and The Logic Group to speak to customers about the reasons for the acquisition of The Logic Group, and to invite some fantastic industry heads in order to share their expertise with guests representing industries as diverse as financial services, retail, professional services and travel. The theme of the day was the 'Psychology of Payments' and it took in how the payment industry is changing, the consumer behaviours driving this evolution, and how businesses can incorporate this into their customer engagement strategy. We were fortunate enough to welcome John Inverdale as our MC for the day, and he had the pleasure of welcoming some fantastic speakers to the stage. Andrew McCelland, IMRG, the UK's industry association for online retail gave a well-received and comprehensive overview of how consumer behaviours are changing in a digital age. Meanwhile, Tim Woollias of Google - a company which knows innovation well - discussed how 'failing well' can breed creativity and lead to new ideas that solve new problems, and how this should be applied to payment technology. Additionally, internal speakers from Barclaycard spoke about the acquisition of The Logic Group by Barclaycard, and why Barclaycard is the right home for The Logic Group. Last, (but by no means least) our very own Nicole Olbe spoke about The Logic Group's approach to omni-channel, and how an omni-channel solution leads to growth, security and better customer understanding - a winning solution for our clients. We were also lucky enough to be joined by Pat Cash for an intimate interview on innovation and psychology in sport, and answered questions about 'that' Wimbledon moment! This was followed by an evening of hospitality in the Barclays Champions Lounge at the ATP World Finals. Our guests were treated to a Novak Djokovic masterclass, in which he asserted his dominance over men's tennis in emphatic fashion, beating Tomas Berdych in straight sets: 6-3, 7-5.
