This week's challenge: How to recreate the essence of a Bali vacation through one often overlooked furniture piece, the headboard. An 18th century hand carved Burmese Temple Arch served as the focal point, with delicately hand carved detailing and scrolling floral motifs.The interior was fitted with a padded backdrop to soften the overall effect, using a double wide linen fabric eliminated the need for a vertical seam. We shortened the archway to fit the scale of the room which required that we carefully match the carving sections. Like most Golden Triangle projects, this was a much enjoyable collaboration with a designers Cookie Weber and Kelley Audrain.
