Tate Publishing: Tate publishing resumes operations

By Jack Money Business Writer [email protected] Oklahoma-based vanity publishing house facing at least $4 million in judgments from federal and state courts and more than 700 complaints from its customers reopened for business this week.Tate Publishing and Enterprises updated its website to show it once again is offering marketing, publication and other services to its customers. For the past several months, authors and musicians doing business with Tate only had been able request a return of their materials, providing they were willing to sign releases holding the company financially harmless. One author who says the firm took thousands of dollars from her without providing promised royalties or marketing services said on Tuesday the news the company is resuming operations is "a huge slap in the face.""No, thank you," replied Heather D. Nelson, a lifetime contract holder with the firm who wrote an initial book about infertility and pregnancy loss for Christian couples struggling with that issue.Subsequently, she wrote a series of 10 children's books for youths who suffer from diabetes that Tate agreed to publish free of charge.Nelson has said she spent thousands of dollars for books, materials and services with the promise she would get much of that money returned if a certain number copies were sold.Read more on NewsOK.com
