New Jersey is home to multiple amusement parks and water parks. During this time of year, many of you may visit these establishments with your families. However, amusement parks can also be dangerous in some cases. Statistics published by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) show emergency rooms treated 30,000 amusement park injuries during 2016. There have also been multiple high-profile amusement park accidents that made national news in the past few years. In 2016, a 10-year-old boy died while riding a waterslide at a Kansas City Schlitterbahn. Recent court documents suggest the waterslide’s design made it extremely dangerous. Another accident in 2017 at the Ohio State Fair caused one death and seven injuries. In this case, a ride broke apart in mid-air because it suffered from corrosion.
