The N.C. Department of Transportation has picked a contractor to build a new interim bridge at Pea Island in Dare County. T.A. Loving Co. of Goldsboro won the $14.3 million contract, which will involve building a new concrete bridge to replace the existing metal temporary bridge constructed in 2011 at New Inlet following Hurricane Irene.
