T In The Park: Ospreys return to T in the Park site

T in the Park organisers have vowed to work with RSPB Scotland to safeguard a protected species of birds found at the festival site. The BBC reports that ospreys have returned to the Strathallan Castle site in Perthshire, where the event is due to be held from July 10-12. Kasabian (pictured), The Libertines and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have been announced as headliners. RSPB Scotland called the police after video footage emerged, and plans to work with festival organiser DF Concerts on measures to prevent the birds from being disturbed.A spokeswoman for DF Concerts told the BBC: "We can confirm that ospreys have returned to Strathallan, but the expert opinion of our ornithologist is that they have not yet nested."The RSPB believes that the previous nest is active and as such, close monitoring via the cherry picker has been removed and we will continue to liaise with the relevant organisations to ensure the protection of the birds."In the meantime, we'd also like to assure fans that the festival will go ahead. The decision on our planning application will still be made in May and we remain confident that the event will take place at Strathallan."The festival has been held at Balado since 1997 but moves to a new home this year in the grounds of the 19th century castle near Auchterarder.
