Lucca Film Festival aim is to explore cinema in all its forms. The festival started building its ground with retrospectives about experimental cinema from the 60's and 70's to became nowadays an important showcase of major directors from all around the world. Being asked to produce a short teaser to introduce their guests and their new logotype I started reflecting around the concept of cinema itself keeping an eye over the experimental festival's background. As an end result I came out with a visual generative process with which guests names and logotype are revealed. The concept was clear and simple: origins of cinema came out from a series of chemical processes. Here its where the magic take place and ideas find their form, great stories came to life from a plastic film strip dipped into solvents. Right there was from where the visual inspiration came from, so I started messing around with different materials and chemicals in order to find a practical solution able to give birth to my story. Once found the right match and crafted piece by piece the elements I started shooting. I imagined a series of really closed shots to give the right importance to what was going to be seen on the screen, so I ended up hacking a Canon 5D mark III in order to crop on a higher resolution.Cast: MACHINARIATags: concept, research, direction, photography and post-production
