The Iron Triangle (Willet's Point) is a neighborhood in Queens, NYC. With no sidewalks or sewers, the neighborhood is slated for $3bn redevelopment as part of an add-on to the high-end neighborhood started with Citi Field, the stadium directly across the street, where the NY Mets play.This isn't a story about saving a dying neighborhood. This isn't some fundraising effort to stop what is completely inevitable. The city now owns a majority of the land, through purchase. The rest will probably be acquired by imminent domain, as plans to build the new high-rise luxury apartments have already been passed by the city council.This is a story about what one neighborhood in New York used to be like, and what it could have been. It's a story about fixing things rather than just throwing them away and getting new stuff.
