Almost three years have passed since my last post, but in looking back, I cannot say anything monumental or earth shaking has happened - just life. I do find I have been able to save a lot of time in not having to revise my "to-do" - the ones from three years ago are pretty much still "to do". This year did bring some new additions - a dozen pullets. I got them as baby chicks and now they are about three months old... that surly teen-age that glares and 'chucks' at me when I am late with the treats. And of course the daily scolding for not yet having finished their chicken house (its on my "to-do" list). We had to restart the bee hives this year- last years did not seem to build up sufficiently to survive a severe cold snap last winter. If we get a good bloom in our wildflower fields before frost, this years hives should be okay. This years garden wasn't, except for our perennial onions and garlic. They survived the sub-zero winter quite well, tho I do need to reset the beds before they creep across the entire garden. A late freeze killed all the peach blossoms, so no peaches this year, but the grapes and red raspberries have made up in kind. And our young hazelnuts have a lot of clusters showing, so we'll see what the quality is there in a couple months.I am in the process of putting up a small greenhouse and hopefully can extend growing into early winter....I'll get to work on that as soon as I finish the chicken house.. I really need to mark something off my list before another three years pass.
