Some of the stories I would hear would range from sane to down right unbelievable as to why someone would think that they were being bugged. Some of the reasons would repeat themselves like the one where people hear footsteps in the attic or possibly a faint buzzing noise in the background. Many times I would think it would be the person's hearing aide giving the buzzing noise but each one that had that issue swore up and down that the noise was coming from some great government conspiracy. I personally tried to talk many people out of purchasing a bug detector, usually with limited success. For those that were obviously off the deep end I would change the subject and tell them to bring me evidence of a conspiracy first before I sell them this needed equipment.
