Sophono: Medtronic buys Boulder-based hearing-implant maker Sophono

Medtronic bought Colorado-based maker of magnetic hearing implants Sophono Inc. for an undisclosed amount, the company announced Thursday. Boulder-based Sophono's Alpha 2 bone-conduction hearing device turns sounds into vibrations, which then travel through patients' skin to their skull bones, Sophono said on its website.
