It's been awhile since I took a trip down the rabbit hole. To that place where quirky, odd-ball perfumes are made.READER - and the journey of it has taken me back to my roots; To that place where abstraction is more important than the rigidity of structure, narrative and sepia toned storytelling, more important than commercial spin.READER is a mix of unusual musk pairings, juxtaposed against a musty sub-text and the quirkiest of floral notes. Florals that don't smell flowery or sweet, yet carry themselves well.As anyone who has been following along all these years, one thing is clear. I do love my odd and unusual smells. I love the challenge of making them work in real time, not just the work bench in my lab. As such this story has been in my head for quite some time. The memories that I have been able to retain are limited to my young age at the time. Clips, bits and pieces. Vivid at times. Memories of walking up the stairs in the library, looking out a particular window on the top floor, a small wooden step bench that I remember sitting on, the books, less organized as one ascends to the top, and the smells, I have vivid memories of the smells, and perhaps it was those smells that shaped my perfumers nose.
