You know what's cool? You know what's cool? This business is cool and here is just another reason why. My brother Brian, who is primarily responsible for overseeing our restaurant, went to high school with and played football with Ben and Jacob Johnson. Ben and Jacob are twin brothers form Eclipse, VA. Ben runs a soft shell crab shedding facility on Chuckatuck Creek, oysters and crabs. He is one of the youngest in a long line of watermen, a trade that is quickly dying. But Ben and his father push on and brother, Jacob, is often involved as well. This family run business provides us with all of our soft shell crabs during the peeler season and many of our oysters year round. It is awesome for one family owned business to work with another adding to the success of both. Johnson and Sons offer us a wonderful local, sustainable product that really cannot be beat and we in turn have the best ingredients to share with our customers. The Johnson boys and Brian have been friends since they were in a huddle in eighth grade and have plenty of stories to share. When we go down to the docks on Friday afternoons to pickup the softshells it always fun to see these guys joke back and forth. It really is one of the cool aspects about working here. To add a little more fuel to the fire, Ben married Brian's wife's best friend. Now they vacation together as well. Small southern towns aren't backwards, they are wonderful. Here is to doing it right. - Randy
