Shift Marketing Studio Blog Turn that Repeat Customer into a Die-Hard Fan

It's all fine and good if you have a large number of repeat customers, but sometime you'll want to make them truly loyal clients - individuals you can rely on to spread the word about your company and to purchase more and more products and services. That's what's entailed by a loyal client, and there are specific techniques you can use to encourage a repeat customer to strengthen the level of loyalty with your business. Begin by identifying who your best customers are - you know, the customers that you really don't want to lose. Unfortunately for your business, these are the customers your competition would love to target, because if they're so good for you then they'll probably be great customers for your competition, too. That's why you need to, as Jill Griffin says (author of Customer Loyalty: How to Earn It, How to Keep It), "insulate your best customers from competitive attack." There are numerous ways to do this, and you'll need to figure out what works best for your business. As an example, consider composing thank-you notes to your best customers, accompanied by some gift. Add an even niftier touch to this by personally giving this gift to the customer. It goes without saying that the customers with a high repeat rate should be your primary concern. That means giving these customers better discounts than those you provide for customers that only purchase from you occasionally. Instead of determining the effectiveness of discounts by seeing the gross percentage of redemption rates, make sure that it's the high-value customers that are benefiting the most. That might require you to rethink how you're going to go about structuring your discounts. Finally, offer incentives for customers to become deeply loyal to your business. Many outstanding loyalty leaders have highly functional buyer programs that reward customers for increased repeat rates and other loyalty metrics (such as word-of-mouth referrals). To boost the number of loyal customers you have, you'll need to constantly monitor your customer database so that you know the habits of your best customers. In this way, you'll be able to structure buyer programs in a manner that is specific to your customer.Does that sound good? You'll find that your business will have a greater number of loyal clients once you begin paying attention to your customers with a high repeat rate. Now go out there and turn those repeat customers into clients with undying loyalty.
