Fire Tracker, KPCC 89.3 FM's tool for following and researching California wildfires, contains fire information displayed by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection - also known as CalFire - which protects more than 31 million acres of California's privately-owned wildlands and provides emergency services in 36 of the State's 58 counties. It's a wonderful confluence of data, put together in an easy to understand way (as a designer I appreciate the blue on blue layout with orange and white highlights, and easy to read info), on a topic to that's ever more relevant to California residents. I appreciate the detail of the data, from environmental data such as acreage, containment area, and air quality, to industrial data such as structures destroyed and equipment deployed, along with live Twitter updates.
