There are a few things that are of great importance in a student's life. One of them, undeniably, are exams. Acing an exam is top priority for any student who yearns to excel academically. To have the right mentors/teachers and to have at their disposal the right study material is quite obviously the first requirement for any student. The next sequence in this cycle is the use of the study material. Now what do we mean by this? Let's take an example - Child A & Child B. Both go to the same school, are in the same class and have the same textbooks - study materials at their disposal. Yet in every exam, Child A scores more than Child B. To any person taking a note of the obvious facts, a straight-forward thought will be that if everything is the same then why does one child score more and one less? The answer, quite simply, lies in the study style of both students. To know what study style works for a student or not, is a judgement that each child needs to make for him/herself. To aid in this process, and to share a few ideas, we have jotted down different study styles below. 1. Early Rise - Prep Time There's no time of the day when you are as fresh as you are early in the morning. And this is a scientifically proven fact! So to begin the day early, to study early and to go over all that's been taught is a great way to start your day 2. The Night Owls - While the early risers are a classic breed, there's another breed - the night owls. Come what may, their study time only begins post 11pm and that's when they retain what they are studying the best and in fact that's when they can grasp concepts better than ever. As a tip, a student can try both methods - getting up early and studying and staying up late to study and eventually follow the pattern that works best for you 3. Individual Vs. Group Study - This one is a classic debate and to be honest, there are no right answers. Individual study works great when you need to memorise certain topics, when you need to go over basic concepts, and similar. Group studies work very well when you need to discuss topics, solve mathematical queries (compare answers, etc.) and get doubts cleared. Depending on the subject and the demands of it, a student can choose between individual and/or group study. 4. Research Based StudyThere is never a limit to the extent to which you can study about a topic. Limiting studies to textbooks will surely help in scoring great marks, but it may result in a limited understanding of the subject. What's the alternative then?Research based study! This type/kind of study is essential when you want to up your overall knowledge of the subject and gain insights in general. Definitely recommended in subjects which the student wants to pursue in the future. 5. Visual / Oral StudyEither you can recite the topics out loud or you can use graphics/visuals to learn about a subject. Some students prefer visual learning techniques, while others use sound - reading a chapter out loud, associating rhymes/music with certain topics to learn about a subject. There you have it! Go over the list, try different styles and judge which works best for you. In case you have a study style that isn't listed above, feel free to comment below and let us know about it.
