It's a fantastic way of getting instant traffic, but you also need to know what you're doing, because if you don't, you could end up spending an awful lot of money with no return. Google shares a huge percentage of the digital advertising world, and any changes they make can have a huge impact on the marketing for your business. You don't have to be an expert to follow these tips, it's simple! Set up your account Google does have a great user guide that you can follow when first signing up, but essentially all you need to do is enter your email address, if you don't have one, it's easy enough to set up a gmail account through Google. Once you've entered an email address, you can create a password. Once your account is set up, select a target area of where you want your ads to reach. So this could be the whole of the UK, or very specific areas such as Derby, or Nottingham for example. Set up a daily budget, and specify how much you want to pay per click. There's no right or wrong answer here, it entirely depends on how far your budget will stretch. I would recommend starting off low and monitoring it, and increase if needed. Selecting your keywords Use the keyword planner tool for this. Your product or service should be your main keyword such as electricians in Derby. Then visit the targeting section below, this is where you can insert a specific location if you wish. Once you've filled that out, click on "get ideas" this will then bring up a list of suggested keywords. It will also list the average monthly searches for the keyphrases, the competition and suggested bid. This information will help you determine which keyphrases are right for your business.
