Ask a handful of designers if it's difficult designing for themselves and I am willing to bet that the answer will include a series of groans, eye rolls and possible stomach clutching. Just a hunch. I will save you the trouble and tell you that it is tremendously hard to design for yourself. So much so that many designers opt to hire another designer to do their branding. Yeah, that hard. It's not that the work we do for other people doesn't get the same ample and thoughtful attention. But when working with a client, I usually don't have any preconceived notions about their business so it's much easier to be objective and design almost "scientifically". It's soooo much harder to stay focused and make the tough design decisions when designing for yourself. Not to mention that when you want people to hire you to design an awesome logo, it's pretty important that you yourself have an awesome logo. Talk about pressure!
