Samsung: Samsung's chip business sees profit dip 62% in Q1

Samsung said on Wednesday it recorded 79.14 trillion won in revenue and 6.7 trillion won in operating profit. Both revenue and operating profit beat analysts' expectations. However, out of that total, Samsung's chip business contributed 25.1 trillion won in revenue and 1.1 trillion won in operating profit, down 17% and 62%, respectively, from the fourth quarter last year. Samsung said high-bandwidth memory (HBM) sales dropped and its foundry and mobile business were negatively impacted by seasonality. The company's consumer electronics unit, called Device Experience by the firm, contributed 4.7 trillion won in operating profit, thanks to strong sales of Galaxy S25 and high-end appliances. Samsung Display pitched in 500 billion won in operating profit.
