BMG has acquired the recording and publishing assets of New York pop label S-Curve Records. As part of the deal, S-Curve founder and president Steve Greenberg and his general manager Milo Pacheco will join BMG with a brief to develop the company's mainstream pop offering. New York-based S-Curve is the third US label to be acquired by BMG following Los Angeles-based Vagrant Records and Portland, Oregon's Rise Records. Last month Janet Jackson's Unbreakable became the first album released by the new BMG to reach No.1 in the Billboard 200 album chart. Earlier in September BMG scored two simultaneous Top 10 entries in the Billboard 200 with Iron Maiden's The Book Of Souls and Scarface's Deeply Rooted. BMG US president creative and marketing Laurent Hubert said: "BMG is approaching the record business with the same ambition and sense of purpose we have brought to the music publishing business. Artists are not happy with the status quo, and many of them find BMG's core values of fairness, transparency and service very attractive indeed. The success of Janet Jackson demonstrates there is now no level or genre of artist which is beyond our reach. "Steve Greenberg is an exceptional record executive who will further build our capabilities in the recordings business. In S-Curve he has built a label which represents the best in popular music." Steve Greenberg said: "We're excited to begin the next chapter of the S-Curve Records story working within BMG. As a small indie who have had significant success in pop music, we are looking forward to joining forces with BMG, a company that combines an indie sensibility with the resources to amplify our success." Among the artists on S-Curve's roster is multi-platinum pop artist Andy Grammer, who has released two albums on the label. His last album Magazines Or Novels was a Top 20 hit in the US with the single Honey I'm Good ranking among the Top 10 best-selling singles of 2015, according to Soundscan. Steve Greenberg first founded S-Curve Records in 2000, its first major release being Who Let the Dogs Out by Baha Men. The album went on to sell 4 million albums worldwide and win a Grammy Award. A string of successful records followed, including Joss Stone's first two albums, The Soul Sessions and Mind, Body & Soul, and the Grammy-nominated Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne. After a period during which he served as president of Columbia Records, Greenberg relaunched S-Curve in 2007 as a full-service recording and music publishing company.Since then it has released many successful records, including music by critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Diane Birch, alternative pop/rock band We The Kings, music icons Tom Jones and Duran Duran, the Grammy-nominated collaboration by Betty Wright and the Roots, and Joss Stone's 2012 Top 10 album The Soul Sessions Vol. 2.
