So you don't have a mobile version of your website. What can I say, I didn't either until recently. Let's face it, everything is going mobile and if you're not part of the mobile revolution, you're gonna lose out. Not just marketing opportunities, but actual sales. For example, I use my iPhone to access just about everything - from current sports scores, to what wine to buy, to finding my way to that new restaurant I want to check out. If it isn't available via my iPhone, it's not happening. I love reading the reviews on Yelp via my iPhone and getting the ratings so I can make an informed decision before spending my money somewhere. And I have written reviews, all - in my opinion - to help others make a decision. If I go to a site to see a menu, or check out a cool new tablet PC and I can't view your site via my iPhone - you're off the list...immediately. You don't get a second chance...or even a first chance!Smartphones are growing at a phenomenal rate according to the iPass Mobile Workforce Report. 63 percent of mobile employees prefer a smartphone over a laptop as their primary mobile device. And according to comScore 63.2 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ending in December 2010, up 60 percent versus just one year ago. RIM (Blackberry) led the ranking with 31.6 percent market share of smartphones, while Google Android maintained the #2 position with 28.7 percent, up 7.3 percentage points versus September. Apple accounted for 25.0 percent of smartphone subscribers (up 0.7 percentage points), followed by Microsoft with 8.4 percent and Palm with 3.7 percent. In December, 68.0 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging on their mobile device, up 1.0 percentage points versus the prior three month period, while browsers were used by 36.4 percent of subscribers (up 1.3 percentage points).OK, you've got the statiscics. You need a website accessible by a mobile phone and the sooner you get one the better off you'll be. You can have someone build you an iPhone app and Android version and Blackberry version. Or...do what we did. Write it in HTML 5, add some code to your site to check which browser is accessing the site and send them over to the mobile version. Check it out. Surf this site with your mobile phone and see what shows up. A simpler version of the same site that looks and works much like a mobile app. We can do it for you, give us a call or shoot us an email with your website url and we'll send you a bid.
