Here is an example of the changes in reading that can occur with students simply by changing the position of their book. This student is in 4th grade, and test 1 is an example of her reading in Position "A", which is with her paper flat on the desktop. She read 98 words per minute with 19 errors. She missed 5 out of 10 comprehension questions. Test 2 is while reading in Position "C", which is with her paper held straight in front of her. This is the position she chose as the best reading position. While reading in position "C" she read 151 words per minute, had 5 reading errors and did not miss any comprehension questions. Both tests were "cold" reads and were at the 4th grade level. On the first test she scored in the 25th percentile, and on the 2nd test she scored in the 75th percentile.
