Pro-Sphere Tek Blog Why I'm going to HIMSS19

There are so many great reasons to go to the HIMSS Conference and Exhibition as outlined in their Why should you attend HIMSS 2019? Here are 10 reasons... list. And these are great reasons but as a someone who is there for my customers and what's important to them, here is why I attend HIMSS...Innovation. HIMSS is the most well attended Health IT Conference in the world (45K+ attendees). Thought leaders, solution providers, and product vendors from every niche of the Health IT market are in attendance. You can see anything from customized plastic keyboard covers (yes, there was a booth dedicated to just that...) to a fully automated hospital simulation enabled by the latest RFID technology - and literally everything in between. If your business has any intersection with Health IT, HIMSS will expose you to tech and opportunities you did not even know existed. Networking. I can clearly recall meeting a Hospital Administrator from Maine during my first attendance at HIMSS. During a casual conversation, I learned what she wanted to get out of HIMSS - what issues she was trying to solve at her small hospital in Maine. Tech giants such as Microsoft and Salesforce come to HIMSS to introduce technologies and work with their partner community to educate and create demand. Speaking of networking, this is ProSphere's first year as a CIO-SP3 Prime at HIMSS. Since we're on the topic - join us for the NITAAC Reception on Tuesday night. Keynotes. Concepts put forth during the keynote presentations often become trends and opportunities in our industry. I recall IBM CEO Ginni Rometty's discussion about data becoming the new "oil" - a vast resource that would require the careful exploration, processing, and consumption as we generate & discover almost immeasurable amounts. During President George W. Bush's keynote, we learned about the behind the scenes activities that drove the Administration to motivate Physicians to adopt EHR systems - and how the government defined what was "meaningful" regarding their use. Fun. Any mention of HIMSS would be incomplete without reference to the "lighter" side of the conference. Dancing Elvis' (HIMSS18 was in Vegas), parties, and all the local venue has to offer - (I hear there's a SeaWorld event this year!). If we happen to cross paths - ask me about an interesting sign I saw last year in Vegas. See you in Orlando! by Roger Sam, VP, Business Development & Marketing
