In Windows 8 the start screen used a different background image than the desktop. Some people liked this while others hated it. Personally I didn't like it because I felt it caused an in-continuity between the desktop and the start screen. Fortunately in Windows 8.1 there is an option called universal background to allow them both to use the same background. To set this option you need to:Go to the desktop of your Windows 8.1 systemRight Click on the taskbar and select propertiesSelect the Navigation tabNow you need to select the option labeled "Show my desktop background on Start"After this select OK and going forward your desktop background will show on your start screen. Now remember the universal background option is only available on Windows 8.1; if you are still running Windows 8 you need to update your system to Windows 8.1 to get the option to use a universal background.By Al LaPeterAl LaPeter on Google+
