READ. DANCE.Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are the two-day finale of the holiday season. The mitzvah is to rejoice.We say to God, "I love you. Can I have one more day with you to celebrate life?"We say to the Torah, "I love you. Can I have this dance?"We say to each other," I love you. Hoshanah Raba & Shemini Atzeret On each day of the Sukkot festival, after the recitation of hallel or after musaf, a Torah scroll is removed from the ark and brought to the bimah (where the Torah is read). The chazan and congregation say the first four Hoshanot responsively. They then circle the bimah holding the lulav and esrog and recite the longer Hoshana prayer for the respective day of the Festival, as they appear in the Siddur. Musical Hoshanah Rabah Services, Sunday, Oct 4th @ 8:30am - Services led by Yehuda Solomon with Happy Minyan at B'nai David Judea Congregation Beis Midrash 8906 W. Pico Blvd. In the spirit of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, the special prayers of Hoshanah Rabbah with musical instrument accompaniment. Bring an instrument! Sun. 10/4, 6:00 pm Mincha followed Shemini Atzeret Evening Services and Hakafot. Dancing with Torahs around the Bima for Men and WomenIt is our custom to take the Torah's from the Ark and circle the bimah seven times on the night of Shmini Atzeret. These Hakafot last about 20 minutes. Shemini Atzeret Services - Mon. 10/5, 9:45 am Services with Hallel at Pico Shul followed by standing kiddush at the Bookstein's Sukkah.
