Lowering the termperature just a few degrees at times when you are not home can decrease the load on your heating equipment drastically which will save fuel and money. Of course, do not lower it too much as cold breezy nights would be more likely to cause frozen pipes with the thermostat set lower. A typical safe range is between 60-65 degrees F.
