I’ve just realized I’ve been doing webcomics for a very long time… before there was such a thing as webcomics. “Bugs in the System” was a proposed digital comic strip for the Washington Post’s first online foray “Digital Ink” - it was a dialup service to access WaPo’s content through an AOL-like interface. This was 1995. My strip was rejected (TYPICAL) and consensus at the time was nobody wanted to wait forever to download such large images especially cartoons. There were comics online at the time, mostly through BBS systems, but it would have been the first time comic strips were pushed by a newspaper online. In hindsight, they probably thought pot-head insects living inside a computer wasn’t the best for their target demographic. I don’t know.
