SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. ( WETM ) - United Way of the Southern Tier is teaming up with Wegmans once again to raise money to support programs to help those in need in Chemung and Steuben counties. LECOM and EOP to host free community health fair From now until April 26, those who shop at the Wegmans in Corning, Elmira and Hornell can donate to United Way when they check out at any register. Shoppers can choose to donate $2, $3, $5, round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or give another amount to support the cause. All donations that are collected through the fundraiser will be given to the United Way of the Southern Tier's Game Changer Fund, which supports different programs for children, senior citizens and people who are facing a crisis or natural disaster. Free rabies clinic coming to Chemung County in April "Small donations add up to a big impact in our community," said United Way of the Southern Tier President Maleaha Smith. "A $3 gift provides a book for a child. A $5 gift means a senior citizen will have a nutritious meal. Every time you give, you make a difference."
