Open source solution provider Red Hat and Oracle have announced an expanded collaboration to break down barriers to hybrid cloud adoption at Red Hat's 2025 Summit in Boston. The joint effort delivers a more consistent, cloud-native foundation for next-generation workloads, including AI, by bringing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift support to more deployment options on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including government, sovereign, and distributed cloud services.Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift on OCI now offer a range of validated configurations to extend their availability into sensitive and regulated computing environments, including high-security government clouds and sovereign deployments.Red Hat OpenShift is also now certified to run on OCI Roving Edge Infrastructure, Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer and Oracle Private Cloud Appliance.OCI customers can also now use Red Hat Enterprise Linux on both OCI Dedicated Region Cloud and Oracle Alloy, which allows customers to become cloud providers by reselling OCI services to end users. In addition, Red Hat OpenShift now supports OCI Compute bare metal instances powered by NVIDIA A100 GPUs and OCI Compute bare metal instances powered by NVIDIA H100 GPUs, expanding the choices available to organisations building and scaling AI-powered applications.Oracle is also now validating key applications and software, including Oracle WebLogic Server, to run as containers on Red Hat OpenShift. The Oracle announcements were one part of a large package of new and extended partnerships that saw the reach of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 extended across major public clouds AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure to deliver cloud offerings tailored to specific hyperscaler environments.Red Hat senior vice president of partner ecosystem success Stefanie Chiras said Red Hat's growing partner ecosystem continued to be the catalyst for maximising the power of Linux across on-premises, cloud and edge environments."With the innovations delivered in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, our partners bring critical capabilities, optimisations and expertise that allow organisations to meet the dynamic demands of AI, security and intelligent operations in the hybrid cloud," Chiras saidAmong other developments, a fully-supported image mode for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 empowered independent software vendors, independent hardware vendors and original equipment manufacturers with a container-native pathway to rapidly build, deploy and manage the operating system. This enables partners to accelerate their time-to-market and lower development costs for solutions spanning on-premises, hybrid cloud, and edge environments.Red Hat and Google Cloud also announced an expanded collaboration to advance AI for enterprise applications by uniting Red Hat's open source technologies with Google Cloud's purpose-built infrastructure and Google's family of open models, dubbed Gemma.A new collaboration between Red Hat and Meta was also announced to spur the evolution of generative AI for the enterprise. This started with Red Hat's enablement of the Llama 4 model family on Red Hat AI and the high-performing vLLM inference server, an open-source library designed to enhance the efficiency of large language models.Red Hat and Meta will also champion the alignment of the Llama Stack and vLLM community projects, helping to drive unified frameworks for the democratisation and simplification of open gen AI workloads.
