Opennotion Blog Say "Hello" to Laravel!

So our next release of OpenNotion will be the Beta release and this new version will be sporting both a new design and a new name. But more has been going on behind the scenes in terms of development and we're also going to be using a brand new framework! This new framework will be Laravel. Now Laravel has become increasingly popular recently and at the end of last month version 4 was released. As a result we can now begin development for the Beta. The Beta will have a couple of new requirements to accomodate for the change in framework and they will be;PHP 5.3.7+The MCrypt PHP extensionHowever there are many benefits to using Laravel and these include;Language supportBlade template supportJSON and JSONP Responses (to allow the possibility of an API)Built-in login authentication system (using Blowfish encryption)Overall cleaner syntaxSo our first task will be to port all of the current features over to Laravel. After that is complete we will be able to resume work on the shiny new Beta features! We will be bringing you more info on those over the coming months so stay tuned! As for the development code, this will be available on the SVN trunk in the next week or so.Many Thanks, The OpenNotion Group written by Kieran D. in Development.
