Opennotion Blog An Interview with Jordan Mussi

Jordan joined the community forums a few days before applying for the team where he was accepted on the team and currently is a member of the Software Quality Assurance Team... the team responsible for testing bugs within OpenNotion, suggesting fixes and reviewing the developer's code. Here is an interview he took the time to do with us.The InterviewAt what age did you start to become interested in computers, coding and web development? Before 11 or 12. My dad's job was very much to do with coding and computers. I spent a long time wanting to do some work with him but I eventually taught myself some HTML then PHP. So in actual fact the coding came at the age of 11 or 12.How do you spend your spare time?I spend my spare time squinting at computer screens mostly. I do enjoy football so I support my local team and England in international football. I'm part of the scouting movement and enjoy being involved with the young people and leaders alike. What other commitments or projects are you working on at the moment?Currently I'm working on some pull requests for MyBB (specifically MyBB 1.8). I'm developing a plugin for MyBB 1.8 at the moment, it may never be complete or named (you'll have to wait for it's release, if it comes for more information). I was also thinking about adding backwards compatability so that it will also work with MyBB 1.6.What interests you about the projects you are actively involved with?Th general codebase I guess. I like watching OpenNotion and MyBB actively developed. I enjoy it because it helps me get my eye into the code, how it works and why you want it written like that. I find it's a good learning experience. What attracted you to The OpenNotion Project?I very much wanted a project to be involved with and OpenNotion arrived at the right time for me. I jumped into applying and thankfully I was accepted. :DWhats your favourite feature in ON so far?I very much like the ability to create Idea Statuses in the Admin CP. When I first joined the team there was only Open, Under Consideration and Closed, I didn't dream about making your own different statuses (or is it stati?). :PWhat feature do you want to see in ON?An extension to the way themes are handled would be great. I'd like to see themes being able to be added and removed with ease. Theme customability would be a great change! What are you hoping to do for a career? Some sort of computer engerneering would be great.Future InterviewsGot any questions that you're raring to ask our team? Well go no further than the Ask The Staff thread on the OpenNotion Communtiy Forums. Just post your questions, who they are for (individuals or a whole team!) and we will do our best to answer them. Once we think we have enough questions for a team member to answer a new blog post will be created by them enlightening you to what was previously unknown. Our next team member interview will be with Jovan. An Interview with Jordan Mussi written by Jordan M. in Team.Tags: Mussi, Jordan, Team, Interview, Questions.
