Recently we received an email from a young Engineering Student, - Mr. Lakshit Agarwal, pursuing his Electrical and Electronics from BITS Pilani. His dream is to make India self sufficient in the energy sector. On one of his visits to Barefoot College, Tilonia, which is very near to Ajmer his home town, he happened to witness women from different parts of the country with little or no education working on projects of renewable energy which included working with ICs to make Solar Panels which highly fascinated him. Having come across the Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi TV program which featured Dr. Ranga's work in LED Lighting and the One Child One Light program (http://goo.gl/C0XtA6), and highly motvated by it, Lakshit was keen to support the OCOL cause and explore possibilities of being a bond between the programs to benefit such women.Impressed by the enthusiasm shown by him and wanting to encourage him, Dr. Ranga sent him 10 Solar LED Mini Lights and suggested that he could provide these to some deserving children in his vicinity. Wasting no time, Lakshit teamed up with NIRMAAN, an organization of BITS Pilani which visits slums regularly to provide the children with clothes and study material and also sensitizes their parents about free schooling available in Pilani itself, and gave the lights to 10 deserving children. Sharing some pictures sent by Lakshit below:In recent times, OCOL has had the privellege to distribute Solar LED Lights to hundreds and sometimes even thousands of beneficiaries. However, sometimes its not about numbers, but about how useful we are and how deep we can reach out to the needy, and this experience is just that. Thanks to a sincere effort by Mr. lakshit who volunteered for the cause, some of the most needy children from one of the farthest corner of the country, who wanted to study were able to get access to solar Study Lights which gives us much satisfaction and for which we are much thankful to him.We encourage more and more people like him to come forward and help children from the farthest corners of our country to get a safe, clean and bright solar LED study light to help them in their studies.
