Few footballing stadiums around the world have a history as rich as Old Trafford and no conversation with Manchester United in it, is complete without a mention of Old Trafford. The sea of red on game days is overwhelming even if you are not a Man U fan and to watch a game played by the Red Devils here is a phenomenal experience. To hear the deafening noise in the stadium, to share the infectious enthusiasm and to show unconcealed love and dedication to the team and the game along with other fans is a dream for every Man U fan.Old Trafford has been home to the Red Devils for more than a century now and except for the period between 1941 and 1949, when the stadium suffered in the Second World War along with the rest of England, the location has proved to be a mecca for Man U fans. The stadium opened its gates to fans on 19th February 1910 and since then, after several expansions and renovations, has made sure an increasing number of fans can enjoy the experience of watching their favorite teams play here. Today, the capacity of the stadium stands at 75,635 and even now, further expansions are being planned.Although this may seem like quite a high number, the stadium actually boasted of a higher capacity in the days when stands that allowed spectators to stand and watch the game were allowed. Following the Taylor Report, the nineties saw the capacity drop as all-seater stadiums were made mandatory by the government. The Sir Alex Ferguson stand, dedicated to the iconic, as well as the most successful manager Manchester United has seen, is the most popular stand in the stadium. The South Stand, the West Stand, also known as Stretford End, and the East Stand are the other stands in the stadium. The record attendance of the stadium, after it was converted to an all-seater, came during a game between Manchester United and the Blackburn Rovers. The record stands at 76,098, a number that's also a record for a Premier League game. The 'Theater of Dreams', as Bobby Charlton called the stadium, is a place many Manchester United fans call home and if you're a true Man U fan, your fandom would be incomplete without a visit to Old Trafford!
