Geducos and Madel Sabater - Namit The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warned yesterday the public against acquiring the personal data of registered voters from the hacked website of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), saying they could be criminally liable. The warning came as netizens raged over what seemed to be Malacañang's accessing and spreading of the leaked data, which officials later addressed as a possible "malicious forgery". NBI Director Virgilio Mendez issued the warning last Friday night said he ordered the agency's Cybercrime Division to go after those who have taken possession of the Comelec data. He said people who either upload or download those files from the Internet may face criminal charges. The Comelec website was defaced last Easter Sunday by members of Anonymous Philippines.
