Motionqr Blog Alma Mater Interviews our CEO

Having worked his way from robotics and design engineering into sales, Greg Brinton was looking for a new challenge. The first thing he noticed about Saint Mary's was a push toward entrepreneurship. "When I entered the executive MBA program, I was director of sales," said Brinton. "My aspirations weren't much higher than VP of sales."When I graduated, not only did I have credibility that I hadn't had before, I had knowledge of a much larger view of what business was. As such, I was able to take my career into a pretty remarkable area. I quit my full-time job about two months before I graduated, and started a consulting firm working with start-ups. From there, I got myself into the CEO role."Security is Key"Security is one of the most important topics today," said Brinton. QR code is short for "quick-response" or "quick-read" code and was developed initially for automobile parts tracking. A regular QR code is static, but a moving QR code is a dynamic, animated image. "If you google 'moving QR code,' you'll find our company," said Brinton. Using technology originally borrowed from a security encryption model developed by mathematicians in Eastern Europe, Brinton's company motionQR aims to streamline the integration of personal data into an animated QR code that can be displayed on a device screen, then easily captured and decrypted by an authorized smart camera.Brinton is bursting with positivity about the seemingly infinite potential applications of his technology - from entering secured buildings as staff personnel to digital passports holding updated travel visa information."The code can be biometrically authorized. It can be read optically. The technology has purpose for multiple sectors of business, including government, healthcare, and finance," said Brinton. For example, one simple scan could be used for secure network access - including photo, fingerprint, and supervisor information. This scan could also incorporate facial recognition patterns. It could send prescriptions with dosing information electronically. It could hold digital driver's license and personal registration information. motionQR codes could even be used for quick and secure automated check-in at hotels and airports.A Little Bit of EverythingIn the past, Brinton has held high-level executive roles for consulting and sales companies, including Director. As CEO of security company motionQR, Greg Brinton's role includes anything you could think of, from head of company strategy, operations and sales to janitor. He enjoys it. "This is by far the most challenging thing I've ever done," he said. "Before this, I thought getting my MBA, being VP, and having a family were the hardest things. "I can only do this because I have great people working with me," said Brinton."The program was fantastic. My intent walking out of there was to have the skills to continue my career. When I graduated I found that not only did I have credibility I didn't have before, but I had a much larger view of what business was."
