MedCorp Blog Overview of the Logiq E BT12 Features Part I

The Logiq E BT12 is one of GE's best portable ultrasound systems. With all of the advanced screening options included in the GE Logiq E BT12 features, this system is capable of handling screenings for abdominal, cardiac, gynecology, musculoskeletal, pediatric, small parts, urology and vascular applications. Below, we review five of the Logiq E BT12's features and how to use them in an exam.Logiq ViewThis unique Logiq E BT12 feature allows for an extended field of view on the screen to see relational anatomy. In order to get this image, you will need to get one continuous longitudinal sweep across the area being scanned.First, you will need to activate the Logiq View feature by pressing the Logiq View function key, which is located near the middle at the top of the keyboard. Next, begin scanning the desired area, pressing the start key when you are ready to begin the longitudinal sweep. Once you have captured the entire area, press stop. You will now be able to view one panorama image and take measurements on screen.Needle Guidance B-Steer is the Logiq E BT12's feature for needle recognition. It allows technicians to see the needle and anatomy on screen in real time. To use it, you will first need to get an image of the needle on screen. Once you can see the needle, press the B-Steer key on the lower left hand side of the keyboard. This will highlight the needle without degrading the image quality on screen. You also have the option to turn color on when working around vascular structures.Patient Follow Up ToolThis Logiq E BT12 feature enables technicians to compare a patient's previous exams with the current day's screening, allowing you to view identical annotations as well as imaging parameters that were previously used.First, go to the patient screen and enter the patient's ID number to pull up records of their previous exam. Select the patient, highlighting their name and last exam, then click on new exam at the bottom of the screen. Click on the exit button to begin the new scan.Once the new exam begins, use the curser to click on the patient follow up tool icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen o activate the historical data. This will bring up thumbnail images at the bottom of the screen from the patient's previous exam. To compare the current screening with the previous scan, simply click on one of the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to a wide screen side by side comparison of the previous image with its labeling and the current live screening session.Color QuantificationThis tool allows technicians to quantify blood flow within the area being scanned. To use this feature of the Logiq E BT12, first active the color or PDI (power Doppler imaging) setting and capture a 3 second video. (You can capture a 3 second video by hitting the P1 key.) Next, recall the video by using the curser to click on the video thumbnail below. While viewing the video, use the push function of the first knob on the left of the keyboard, labeled Q Analysis, to activate the Logiq E BT12's quantitative analysis capabilities. Allow the system to run its initial analysis before choosing an area to analyze specifically for blood flow. After the initial analysis has run, choose your area of interest by using the curser to select the trace tool or preset circle. Hover over the video image and hit the enter key to make your selection. The system will then show a color comparison graph across the video's timeline. To see the ratio of color to black and white pixels on screen at any point in time, press the statistics key (which will be a push function of the rotary knob). Or, to get to a specific time of interest in the 3 second video, twist the rotary knob on the right to move frame-by-frame through the video.Split Screen ImagingTo use this Logiq E BT12 feature for split imaging, press either the right or left split screen buttons on the keyboard. You will now see a wide screen split image, with the live image showing up on either the right or left depending on which split screen button you chose first. Once you've obtained the image you want on one side of the screen, hit the other split screen button and scan the area you want to appear on the other side of the screen.Alternatively, you also can split the screen by activating simultaneous mode. First, activate either color or PDI mode. Next, press both the left and right split screen buttons at the same time, then release. Next you will see a live B-Mode image next to a live color image. This type of view can especially come in handy when doing needle work.To learn more about the GE Logiq E BT12 or to get a free quote, click here.
