Psalm 51:3-4"3For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment." As we continue with the passage we need to remember that this is King David before God asking Him to have mercy and forgive sin. David had committed many sins and he is going to the only One who can forgive. As we pick up in verse three we read that David is well aware of his sin when he states that it is ever before him (this means that he is well aware of what he had done). This is very key to the entire process of forgiveness, repentance and mercy. If we never know that our sin is just that then we will continue to walk in that sin. Once we become aware of our actions and that those actions are sin we can begin the process of turning from sin seeking forgiveness.
