From Melissa's stunning gown to a romantic, golden sunset on a world-famous golf course, to all the events that took their guests on an unforgettable tour of the Village of Pinehurst, this was a wedding weekend dreams are made of.As everyone rolled into town on Friday, Pinehurst quickly worked its magic and friends and family were lulled into the picturesque beauty, timeless elegance, and classic good times that define what this town is all about. As Matthew's dad said in his toast, Pinehurst has always been a special place to their family. So when Melissa and Matthew, who live in Washington DC, decided to have their wedding in Pinehurst, the town became even more special with everyone being there together to celebrate their union. The first stop was the Carolina Hotel for the rehearsal dinner. With the breathtaking drive onto Carolina Vista Drive leading up to the entrance of this grand, century-old hotel, it was easy to see why Melissa and Matthew chose this location to host their first event. Friends and family enjoyed drinks, hors d'oeuvres, toasts, and dinner before heading over to the Holly Inn just down the road for the welcome party. Located in the heart of town, this charming, historic hotel made a very unique and classy space for all the guests to gather and share in their excitement for the big day ahead.On the morning of the wedding, we met with Matthew and the groomsmen at his family's condo in town, the site of many special memories for him growing up. After enjoying the perfect weather out on the patio with his dad, best man, and adorable dog, Matthew went inside to distribute gifts to all his groomsmen and share in a toast. Next, we met with Melissa and the bridesmaids at the Carolina Hotel. With the summer sun shining through the windows, their elegant suite was the perfect setting for group photos and preparations. Melissa's dress was one of the most exquisite we've ever seen. With tons of layered tulle and accented with intricate embellishments all over, her style and grace just shone through!The ceremony was held at the Village Chapel, a lovely historic church centrally located in the village. Melissa's dad, being a deacon in his home church, officiated the service, delivering a very sweet and personal message for the couple that also included a beautiful sermon on the Beatitudes. Sharing stories from their childhoods, he tied in all the ways that Melissa and Matthew are perfect for one another, and also all the ways that they continue to amaze their families with their kindness, care, and affection. The service also featured beautiful operatic singing and pipe organ accompaniment, which filled the entire sanctuary with the blessing of Melissa and Matthew's love for one another.A horse-drawn carriage took Melissa and Matthew on a romantic stroll over to Pinehurst Country Club for their reception in the Outlook Ballroom. With huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the masterpiece golf course Pinehurst No. 2, this was the ultimate place for Melissa and Matthew's party. After their first dance and dinner, the couple stole away for a few moments to enjoy the most ethereal golden sunset outside. As they held hands, strolled and kissed on the green, neither of the two could appear more happy. Inside, the party commenced with the very talented seven-piece band, Mr. Potato Head. Their high-energy performance got everyone out on the dance floor and keep the party going until the sound of a marching band flooded in from the hallway. The Boom Unit Brass Band had made their entrance to escort the couple and all their guests around the clubhouse in classic, New Orleans second line wedding march style. Definitely the funnest and craziest grand exit ever!Thank you Melissa and Matthew for allowing us to capture your treasure of a day! The love and joy radiating from you two makes it apparent that you have the most beautiful bond that two people can share.
