Designing data centers is hard because you don't know what technology and systems you will be running 3 or 5 years from now. So the task of the data center architect is to build for today and the future, a daunting task at the rate technology is changing.Today and into the future data center design must incorporate flexibility, modularity, and most important scalability. The new data center building paradigm won't be about building empty racks that just wait to be loaded with the latest technologies. Data centers now include hot and cold aisles. Hot and cold aisles are where equipment racks are arranged in alternating rows of hot and cold. This practice allows air from the cold aisle to wash over the equipment, that air is then expelled into the hot aisle where an exhaust vent pulls the air out of the data center. What are your plans for re-engineering your IT infrastructure or data center?
