Locks Studio Blog "Shattered" Waves with a Flat Iron

I don't always style my hair this way... jut kidding I do. Virtually every day of my life. And I get asked a lot how I do it. So FINALLY after months of being scared of the YouTube and wondering if it was gonna take me 45 years to upload it-- here is a quickie video of how I curl by hair with a flat iron.Told you it was quick. But honestly thats all it is. Watch it as many times as you need. ;)*My hair is dry. Air-dried in this case but you could blast dry it too if you're more crunched for time.*I prep my hair every single day of my life with Living Proof Split End Mender & Nourishing Oil when damp. I religiously use Restore Thermal Protection Hairspray before I curl. Its a really soft aerosol spray that you can lightly mist all over your head and brush through before you curl.*Take relatively big sections, rotate your wrist and pull. You don't need to have a death grip on the iron.*Leave the ends out-- I usually recommend an inch to two inches. If you're wanting to look more polished and professional opt for closer to an inch left out at the ends. If you're shooting for lived in and edgey lean toward 2 inches left out.*My iron is set to about 350 degrees. I know a lot of irons go up to 450 but trust me you don't need it that high and your iron will glide through the hair much smoother.* When you're through all the sections finger comb/ shake out.* I always finish my style with a few sprays of Living Proof Instant Texture Mist scrunched in and a quick spray of Living Proof's Flex hairspray.NOW- we totally understand that maybe you still have questions about YOUR own hair on your own head. Maybe you are deathly afraid of flat irons and have taken an oath to only ever use a curling iron- these are all variables that we just wouldn't know to answer whether we made a 42 second or a 42 minute tutorial.
